On Tuesday we gave our buddy letters to Room 10. We replied to all their questions. They really enjoyed reading our letters and we enjoyed writing them. We had a great time.

If you were an adult who would you vote for?

Room 21 has been discussing about who we would vote for to be Prime Minister. Would you vote for National and John Key or Labour and Phil Golf? We talked about each party's criteria and the pros and cons. For instance, Green is trying to help the environment but they are going to raise the taxes to pay for everything. We had big discussions and great ideas. If you could vote, who would you vote for?

Buddy letters

Room 21's wonderful buddy class, Room 10 made some beautiful letters for us. They asked us what we did and what we liked, e.g did we watch the All Blacks win the World Cup? We wrote some replies and we will give them to Room 10 next week.

Room 21's Assembly

On the 14th of November it was Room 21's assembly. We did a dance called 'Thriller'. We pretended to be zombies. Mr McAleer put face paint on us to make us look more like zombies. Mr McAleer said that we didn't need face paint because we already looked like and smelt like zombies!

Responsibility

As you all know, this term's value is Responsibility. Room 21 has been talking about Responsibility.  Some examples that Room 21 came up with are; managing our selves, thinking about what you do, and making the right choices. Do you know what Responsibility is? We would love to hear about what you think about Responsibility.

Instructions booklet

Throughout the week Room 21 has been working on our wonderful handmade Instructions Booklet. They were made very easily, the materials were:
 A1 page
Scissors or a ruler
Marker or pen (optional)
Stapler

Method:
1. Fold your page in half, then fold it in half again.
2. Then rip the bottom delicately with a ruler or scissors so it is like a book.
3. Staple the side and  fill it with all your Instructions

See how easy it was and everyone in Room 21 enjoyed populating it. We filled it with Instructions on how to make a booklet, how to get to school, how to make pumpkin soup, how to plant a tree and how to make delicious  milkshakes.

Harold countinued

The last time Room 21 went to Harold Life Education,we learnt about the things which we should put in our body. We learnt that fruits and vegetables are very important and we should eat a lot. They are very important because they are rich in vitamins and minerals. We shouldn't eat a lot of fatty foods because they ruin our fitness. So next time you buy food, look at the ingredients and look out for too much fat.

Parent Teacher Student interviews

On Wednesday 24th August we had the Parent, Teacher and Student interviews. Some of us were really nervous because we thought that the teacher would say something negative. Mr McAleer  discussed with our parents what our next learning steps would be. He also talked about behaviour, contributing to discussions and our progress with learning. Our parents were impressed with our learning. They told Mr McAleer about our behaviour at home, and our chores we don't do such as, not cleaning up our ROOMS!

Speeches

Room 21 has been doing speeches on a variety of topics; everything from 'Pollution' to 'My 10 favourite things' to 'My Mum' to 'Why we should exercise'. It was lots of hard work but we learnt to speak clearly, thoroughly research our topic and always keep our audience interested by using humour and interesting facts.

Swimming

On Tuesday, Room 21 all went swimming at the Papatoetoe Centennial pools. We all started piling up excited to jump in the pool and get started. We had to swim to the end and the people that made it, got split up into level five and six. All the great swimmers (Daniel, Allan and James) got into level 6. They all hope to learn from this and over the weeks we probably will succeed. If you haven't gone swimming yet, believe us you will enjoy it.

Arguments...

Recently we wrote arguments about the Pros and Cons of going to school.  Some argued that children should NOT go to school because it's more fun at home but most agreed we should go to school because we can learn more there,

Clean & Green

In Term 3 we will study the environment and what we need to do [or not do!] to help plants survive.
